So my daughter reminded me to “Spring Ahead” this weekend. I’m sure like my kids, most children are excited about Daylight Savings Time (longer days = more outdoor playtime) and Spring Break. I sometimes dread spring because it means it’s time for the much-needed spring cleaning. Don’t get me wrong, I love a freshly cleaned, well-organized home. I just do not like to spend hours on end doing the cleaning. So I spent a little time on Pinterest seeking out ways to make this task much easier. And I found some easy spring cleaning hacks.
17 GENIUS SPRING CLEANING HACKS TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER:
- With a house full of blinds and a family full of dust allergies, this hack of wrap cleaning cloths around tongs and secure with rubber bands to clean window blinds is perfect.
- I love a nice clean carpet but I have spending money on the “required cleaner.” Use this hack to make your own carpet cleaner. You can clean them more often without the added cost of the cleaner.
- You guys know I love to save money so this is one of my favorite spring cleaning hacks. Making our own homemade laundry detergent powder has saved us tons of cash. On top of that, I have been able to control the chemical that goes into our laundry, since my youngest has eczema.
- So I know some of you have perfect angels for children. However I was not given those, so I’ve had my fair share of crayon marks on the wall. This hack gets rid of the crayon marks on your wall with your steam cleaner. It melts the crayon right off!
- I detest a sticky fridge. I’m not sure what happens in this fridge when I’m not around but I always find mysterious sticky spills on the shelves. Now I use this Press N’ Seal wrap on my refrigerator shelves to make clean-up easier.
- As you can tell from my Instagram, my family and I love rocking out Chuck. However, they have a tendency to begin to look grungy very quickly. This tip is to use a magic eraser to get them sparkling white again. It works with all sneakers.

- With just about every spill or stain, I grab out all-purpose cleaner. Here is a great “green” alternative you can make with vinegar.
- Speaking of vinegar, I have found an easy tip for cleaning showerhead mineral build-up by using a vinegar soak. It dissolves all that gunk like magic!
- In my home, the microwave is another spot with the mysterious spills and stains. Lucky I found a hack that helps with cleaning your microwave in just two minutes! Score!
- Here’s a clean your dishwasher hack using soda and Kool-aid that I plan on trying. Sounds odd but work a try.
- Stainless steel appliances seem to be staples in most homes. Well if you have kids or pets then so are smudges on your stainless steel appliances. A simple hack is olive oil as a stainless steel cleaner. It works great for preventing smudges and fingerprints.
- Another money-saving spring cleaning hack I have found for that smelly garbage disposal it to make your own garbage disposal tablets out of vinegar and citrus fruits to freshen it up.
- Here’s a hack that may seem a little unconventional but is every effective- Cleaning copper pots with ketchup. Don’t ask me how, but it works.
- I love the farmhouse style sink but scrubbing it is not my idea of a fun time. Clean your farmhouse sink with a paste made from baking soda, water, and dish soap instead. It makes it sparkle!
- Spring cleaning means it’s time to clean all those things you neglected most of the year. This includes deep cleaning makeup brushes. Deep cleaning them ensure that they don’t cause breakouts!
