Oh. EM. Gee…It’s cold out. Yes, I currently live in Florida but 37 is still cold for this area. I just watched the local weather and there is a chance we will have snow! Being originally from the Northeast I’m comfortable driving in snow. Safety is a must when it comes to winter driving conditions. So I wanted to share some winter musts haves for your vehicle.
All of the items I’m going to share with you are practical items. You can purchase these items for cheap from Amazon. I have a small kit with these items in each of our family vehicles.
1. Ice Scraper – This helps with snow removal. Without it it is very difficult to keep your windows cleared without it.
2. Flashlight – This is another item that should fall into the any season category. It is something that is tiny enough to fit right in your glove box but shines bright with the LED.
3. Tow Strap – A handy item to have in your vehicle if you were to get stuck in snow and needed a tug out.
4. Emergency Escape Tool – This tool is used to break a window and cut your seat belt, a tool that every vehicle should have at all times.
5. Blanket– While I hope you don’t need it, a blanket is useful in the event that you are left on the side of the road and need some extra warmth.
6. Jumper Cables – In any season, you should have a set of jumper cables in your car but it would be a shame to be out in a winter storm with a dead battery and no jumper cables.
7. Bag of Cat Litter – Cat litter works just like sand when it comes to traction. It comes in handy if you are stuck in snow, just place a couple scoops under your tires to help with traction.
I hope this list is helpful to you. Safety during the winter is so very important. Don’t let a winter storm leave you stranded. Have I forgotten anything from this list? Let me know in the comments.
