We had a successful “almost slumber party” for my sweet Kay. When it comes to celebrations Ms. Kay has always required a big shindig. This year was no different. So for lucky number 7, she requested a slumber party. Ekkkkkk. In my opinion, she and her friends are still too young to have a slumber party but mother could not disappoint so I hit Pinterest hard. After hours of searching and brainstorming, I landed on an “almost” slumber party.
What is an “Almost” Slumber Party
Well, it is a party that would start in the evening and you would do all the things that kids would do at a slumber party but at the end of the evening, the kiddos get to go home. Here is the invitation:
On the back I added this poem to be sure parents understood what was happening:
Wear your jammies, slippers too,
We’ll do all the things girls like to do!
Eat pizza, popcorn, ice cream & cake,
Paint nails, play games & stay up late!
And when it’s time to go to bed,
We’ll all go home to sleep instead!
Honestly, this concept was a big relief for me. Nothing about the idea of having a bunch of 6 & 7-year olds overnight was exciting to me. It gave me such anxiety. I presented this idea to Kay and she loved it.
Success
The “almost” slumber party was a huge success. We had the same amount of fun as a traditional slumber party. There was yummy food, movies, dress up, dance contests and cake.
And at the end of the “almost” slumber party, I had a cute party favor for all her guests to take home. We used little boxes of cereal, and we added a spoon and a simple “breakfast for tomorrow” gift tag.
All our guests had a great time, and everyone had a fantastic night’s sleep in their own beds. Do you have a little one that would like to host an almost slumber party? It really is an awesome party theme!
