Another exciting moment in our new home build. I know some of you may be asking “Why bible verses for the home?” Well, as Christians we have God’s word written in our hearts and Christ as our foundation. So I knew during this home building journey that I wanted His word to also be written in the heart (the framework) and foundation of our home. Today was out pre-drywall inspection so we took the opportunity to walk through our home praying & writing scriptures on the floors and walls.
I’m sure when the contractors come back to our lot, they will be slightly confused with all the new markings all over the house, LOL. Luckily for us, God connected us with an incredible Real Estate Agent & Sales Agent and they loved the idea of “Operation: Bible Verses For The Home.”
Bible Verses For The Home:
ENTRANCES:
“You will be blessed when you go in and blessed when you go out.” – Deuteronomy 28:6
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15
KITCHEN/EATING AREA:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” – Psalm 34:8
“Give us this day our daily bread.” – Matthew 6:11
“They broke bread together and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” – Acts 2:46
“Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” – Hebrews 13:2
“And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” – Deuteronomy. 8:3
FAMILY ROOM/COMMON AREAS/HEART OF THE HOME:
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” – Matthew 7:24
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 3:11
“Through wisdom, a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” – Proverbs 24:3-4
“Love one another as I have loved you.” – John 13:34;
“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.” – Psalm 127:1a;
MASTER BEDROOM:
“Love is patient. Love is kind.” – 1 Corinthians 13
“I am my beloved’s and he is mine.” – Song of Solomon 6:3
“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
“I have found the one whom my soul loves.” – Song of Solomon 3:4
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” – Ecc 4:9-12
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:2-3
Even our children were thrilled to be involved in “Operation: Bible Verses For The Home”. Along with the verses I picked below for Keeshon and I to write on their framing, each of our children chose to write one of their favorite verses in their rooms. Let’s be honest, what kid doesn’t want to write on the walls with a sharpie?
KID’S ROOMS:
“You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.” – Proverbs 3:24
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12
“My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you. Bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” – Proverbs 3:14
“Strength and dignity are her clothing and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” -Proverbs 31:25-26
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.” – 1 Peter 3:8
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” – Ephesians 4:2
HOME OFFICE/HOMEWORK STATION:
“For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your path.” – Proverbs 3:6
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for human masters.” – Colossians 3:23
LAUNDRY ROOM/BATHROOMS:
“Cleanse me, and I will be clean. Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” – Psalm 51:7
“Give us clean hands and pure hearts.” – Psalm 24:4
“Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.” – Psalm 51:2
We are beyond grateful for this beautiful home that God has given to our family. And we love finding ways to honor Him throughout our home building journey.
We tried to gather as many verses that we felt applied to the home, but I’m sure we missed a few. Please share any scriptures that you believe are great for the home. I’d love to see what you come up with.
