Essential Family Road Trip Tips – Spring Break

Our family loves to travel. If you follow me on Instagram, you know…we are always taking road trips, or hopping on a plane to go somewhere. It’s important for us to get away, and enjoy all different cities have to offer.

Traveling as a family is a wonderful way to form bonds between the family, without any distractions from work or household life. While a family road trip can be exciting as well as fun, it’s not always a smooth process. If there’s one thing for sure that all parents can agree on, no matter how much you plan for a smooth trip with kids, something always comes up to create a little chaos along the way. Today I’m featuring these essential spring break family road trip tips to help curb the chaos and encourage the fun times.

5 Essential spring break family road trip tips

Plan a Route

If you truly want to enjoy a spring break family road trip it’s important to plan a route beforehand. Knowing your estimated route and places to stop along the way will ensure less chaos ensues in the back seat with the children. Have your children work with you to create a spring break road trip plan. This plan can include destinations or landmarks that the children want to visit as well to keep them motivated to behave in the back seat along the way.

Essential family road trip tips

Research the Weather

It’s important that you’re aware of the predicted weather patterns that may occur along your route during your spring break road trip with the family. While weather predictions aren’t always 100% accurate, they’ll give you the best approximation of what weather may hit the areas that you’re traveling to during your road trip. This will allow you to pack appropriate clothing options for the entire family.

Pack Entertainment

Depending on how old your kids are, there are always ways to pack entertainment options so that they stay occupied during the long drive times. This could be pens, paper, crayons, markers, and word search puzzles or tablets. Be sure that your kids all have something to keep them entertained together as well as during times that they may want to be alone during the spring break family road trip.

Keep Everything Organized

During long stretches of driving in between destinations, the vehicle may get a bit unorganized. Between the kids snacking and using their entertainment you’ve allowed them to use during the family road trip, the back seat can get pretty chaotic. At each stopping point be sure that you all work together to clean up the vehicle and get organized before venturing off to your next destination on mission spring break family road trip.

Have Fun

Going on a spring break road trip with your family is such a fun way to spend spring break. Now that you have some essential spring break family road trip tips, it’s time to move forward in the planning stages to ensure that you can enjoy this year’s spring break road trip with the family.

All of these essential spring break family road trip tips will help ensure that chaos is at a minimum and enjoyment is at a maximum. Planning a family road trip for spring break is a great way to make everlasting memories with your family.

I find it helpful that you said that a family planning a road trip should create an estimated route with stops along the way to avoid getting chaos in the back. Reading about this reminded me of how my sister is asking me for help on where should she bring her family to this Easter. To help her, I will look for a local wine tour where her kids can learn more about how it is made while the adults can enjoy a glass or two.
