The first few years of marriage were tough for us. Like reeeally tough. We were two imperfect people, expecting perfection from one another that we didn’t even possess within ourselves. We had unrealistic expectations about a very real relationship. Too many of us go into marriage & expect our spouse to meet all our needs and the truth is that just doesn’t happen. You get your needs met from God and the 2 are 1 for a purpose. It took a few years of learning how to be married to one another and trust in each other. We took time to remember what made us friends, and discovered the vision for our union, created a climate that promoted a healthier love, and most of all protected our hearts from outside influences.
It was work but anything worth having is. Now we look back on where we’ve been, praise God for bringing us where we are now, and look forward to where we are going. ❤️
Marriage is a series of intentional efforts. You truly get out of it what you put into it. It is far from a cake walk, it’s a FAITH walk. It may be challenging but remember, a straight tree with crooked roots will still grow and flourish if it’s watered properly. The best is yet to come! 👊🏾// #covenanteverafter #marriagerocks #tohaveandtohold
