I currently travel 40% of the time for business. While that seems like a lot to some, let me tell you a secret…I love it. In addition to my career, I’m a busy wife and mom. I wear many hats. My life is filled with wonderfully imperfect chaos. I embrace it. However, whenever there is a chance to step away and escape one of the many hats, I take full advantage. And enjoy it.
Most of the time it’s an average corporate style hotel near the airport. Nothing to write home about. But this trip up to Atlanta, my admin booked my stay at the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel. Man oh man, was I shocked.
She made a great choice. The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is my new go-to place to stay for several reasons. First is location. It can be found right near the airport yet despite its proximity, I didn’t hear any large number of planes taking off. The hotel is near the conference centre and 2 minutes walk to the Skytrain shuttle which goes in one direction to the rental car area and in the other to the domestic terminal at the airport. The hotel’s complimentary airport shuttle runs every 20 minutes starting at the top of the hour and is staffed by some of the nicest people.
Second, the pricing is competitive for the area. Hotels in the area generally share the same price point but at Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. The rooms are very spacious, they have great guest amenities and the rooms are LUXURIOUS! I walked in and was amazed.
A big gold star for the room was the vinyl wood plank floors. Score! I can’t tell you how much I detest moldy, smelly hotel carpet floors. Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel understood the anguish that carpet causes guests and did away with it.The next thing I noticed was how stylish and modern the room was. I loved the upscale yet simple decor. The design team utilized every inch of this space to make sure it was beautiful but also functional for the guests.
Let’s talk about the bed. Oh Em Gee! I got the best sleep in months. Since my car accident, I really haven’t had a full night’s rest. But I slept a good 7 hours each night I was at this hotel. Seriously, I don’t know what this mattress is made of but this bed was so comfortable. I did not want to get up each morning. It was soft enough to envelope my body but to firm enough to support my jacked up spine. I truly wanted to fold this bed up and pack it into my suitcase to bring home with me.
I know I talked a lot about this room but the entire hotel is awesome. The staff is uber friendly, room service was accurate and fast, the restaurant/bar was tasty & the grounds were beautiful and well maintained. If I had to ask that this hotel improves on anything, it would be to expand their food options just a bit.
Needless to say, when I am traveling to Atlanta, the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is where I will be staying.
In the comments, I’d love to hear about a surprisingly nice stay you had at a hotel.

Nice choice of property for sure! I agree that the comfort of the bed goes a long way toward getting great sleep and feeling refreshed each day (especially in cases like your back). This place looks really clean, bright and fresh aside from being convenient in terms of location. Great for corporate stays I would agree. For holidays though, I tend to choose every different options depending on the location and what I want to do.

I completely agree. I wouldn’t choose this hotel for a family trip. My wild kids would disrupt the sense of peace here LOL.

This looks like an amazing hotel to stay in. Hubby and I stayed at a gorgeous hotel DT NYC once. It’s been my favourite stay ever.

I will need to google that one. We stay in NYC often.
