This is absolutely my favorite time of the year – cool air, crisp leaves changing colors, apple picking, scarves & boots, shopping and pumpkin everything!! I am here for Autumn, okay?
With that, there is not a person alive that can convince me that the fourth Thursday in November is one not one of the best days of the year. I mean, seriously you guys, you have to admit that Thanksgiving is pretty fricking awesome. It has all the elements of the perfect holiday — all the yummy food you can eat, quality time with friends and family and of course football (how ‘bout them Cowboys).
Thanksgiving is the perfect way to kick off the Holiday season. It is such a loving & reflective time to think of all that you’ve experienced this year and express gratitude. I have learned that gratitude makes room for more and I have also learned how to be thankful in all things; even if I’m are not so thankful for all things. And that lesson didn’t come easy but oh is it so worth it.
Another reason Thanksgiving is such a great holiday is, well, let’s be honest this is a holiday that revolves around food. Personally, I love to be in the kitchen both cooking & baking and I love to eat so it is win-win. Let’s be clear, I am completely non-Keto when it comes to this day. I hope back on the Keto band wagon on Cyber Monday.
Oh but don’t forget dessert. Some of my favorite Thanksgiving desserts to whip up are Lemon Coconut Cake, Caramel Apple Pie and of course, Sweet Potato Pie (I still haven’t mastered my mother recipe on this one). I will be trying it once again this year. And everything requires ice cream or whipped cream.
Traditions are another reason this holiday give me all the feels. Every family is slightly different when it comes to holiday traditions. One of my favorite traditions in my family is our holiday game of Monopoly. This is not just any game of Monopoly. My family is very competitive and you would think that the Monopoly money was real cash. I have bankrupted my own Mama and felt no remorse. She should have managed her income better, LOL. It’s real out here.
We won’t be going back home to NJ this year so I will definitely miss this. But I look forward to playing it at Christmas this year. And we are excited to have a wonderful, intimate Thanksgiving here at home and then off to celebrate a Friendsgiving with some of our Florida buddies that are like family as well.
I will try to go live on FB or at least do an IG story tomorrow. I’m off to start my preparations. Let me know some of your favorite Thanksgiving foods and traditions. HAPPY THANKSGIVING Y’ALL!
